You are currently browsing the category archive for the 'Locum Tenens' category.

Did you know that you can ask the lovely ladies at askcid.com for help ANYTIME?

You can just click on the “contact us” link on the left hand side and away you go. It’s THAT easy.  We are here to help!

Here are some of the many reasons you might want to contact us:

  • You can’t find a facility
  • We have the wrong number listed
  • We have the wrong address
  • The facility is now closed
  • You have an interesting story about a hospital or MSO
  • You had a bad run in with a crabby credentialing department and REALLY need someone to vent to (we feel your pain!)
  • You have a suggestion that might improve our site
  • You love us and just can’t hold it in anymore

There are so many reasons, I won’t go on, but you get the idea.  So, go ahead, try out that little button.  It feels so good.

Locum Tenens is latin for  place-holder“.  A person who temporarily fulfills the duties of another. For example, a locum doctor is a doctor who works in the place of the regular doctor when that doctor is absent. These professionals are still governed by their respective regulatory bodies, despite the transient nature of their positions..

I put issues in generally two categories. The “Pink Flags” and the “Red Flags”. “Pink Flags” are those things that are tiny issues you notice, but they can be figured out relatively quickly. Now if there are a ton of tiny issues through out your Credentialing process, then they will start getting darker until you see red. “Red Flags” are the things that stand all alone, and make you think “Hmm” right when you see them.

This weeks Red Flag is – The provider did not fill the application in its entirety. Instead indicates “See CV” (As a Credentiler, I know you have seen your fair share of these.)

“Pink” category

-          The provider was in a hurry

-          The provider didn’t understand what was being asked

-          The provider is tired of filling paperwork

-          The provider is lazy, etc.

“Red” category

-          The provider does not remember what they put on their CV or

Pre-Application.

-          The provider is trying to hide something.

Working with Locum Tenens Providers, I heard a ton of “tired of filling out paperwork”. They filled out all sorts of applications; paperwork was shoved at them from us and the locations they were trying to get work from.

For every ten that were tired of paperwork, there was that one who was trying to slip something past us. Most the time we would get the excuse that “their last place never asked them about it” so they assumed that we didn’t need it either. Once the corrected information was received, all would be well again.  But there were those few that were stopped in their tracks. Those are the ones that I always remember and the reason why I became certified.
